Dr. Olga Megwinoff is a Board Certified Psychiatrist who trained at NYU Langone Health where she completed her residency in Psychiatry in 2000. At NYU Langone Health, Dr. Megwinoff was exposed to and gained an expertise in the treatment of substance abuse disorders and alcoholism. After finishing residency at NYU, Dr Megwinoff attended the Child and Adolescent Fellowship at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. As a private practice clinician, Dr. Megwinoff has been formally learning Buddhist Meditation for the last 10 years.
Dr. Megwinoff is specially trained as a psychopharmacologist and psychotherapist to treat adolescents and adults for ADD/ADHD, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, addiction and alcoholism. Dr Megwinoff uses an eclectic and holistic approach that complements a more traditional psychotherapy framework with mindfulness/meditation techniques.
As an adult psychiatrist with training in a teen and adolescent fellowship program, Dr Megwinoff is an expert in treating adolescents and young adults with addiction and alcoholism. Dr Megwinoff also draws on her fellowship training with families to have an added specialty in treating family members (adolescents, parents and spouses) of addicted persons.
Dr. Megwinoff is a caring psychotherapist and Psychiatrist who takes a “non-pathologizing” approach to psychiatry. She sees her patients as complex people and emphasizes their strengths, rather than their symptoms and diagnoses.
